Sales were actually up(a little) in 2011. At least they have stopped going down and I think this has given hope to those that are in the business. There are some fundamental problems with the industry in general. It's discretionary, too many manufacturers, and the retail business model is badly flawed. In other words, nobody makes very much money in the business.

It's funny you mentioned your wife nogear. Women have been the growth factor in the industry for the past 5 or 6 years. My wife rides too, and she's pretty good. She goes pretty fast, loves to wheelie, and looks great in leather armor. And the best part.....she doesn't want to go riding very often. Ha!

Thanks Guys - offering storage is way beyond the call but greatly appreciated. What I usually do and what always works is to have the Titan serviced at a local Nissan dealer and they hold it for a week. I think earlier I'd mentioned to Chaos that my friend Aldrin was in Lexington...he's not. He works for Colonial Motors in Louisville.

And Bandito, the Marriott Griffin Gate looks great....we're planning on staying there for our first and last night on the trip. Right now we're thinking May 21 or 22. I'll be back when I know exactly.

You guys have been great....I've got one last question. If you could stay anywhere in Lexington (no budget), where would it be? I'll need to leave my truck and trailer there for six nights, so downtown probably won't work.

We're all from southern CT., with exception of 2, and they're from N.Y.. On weekends we pretty much ride Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia Cty's in N.Y.. The roads are farmland...beautiful, but more 70 -90mph sweepers w/ virtually no state or local heat. Every year we'll take one or two trips to N.H. and Vt. - same thing really....high speed sweeps, some twisties, but not like you guys.
Last winter we ventured to S. Cal.. - there were incredible roads....huge elevation(7K+) with relentless twists and no guard rails(see #74 out of Palm Springs)....I'd say the pucker factor was fixed @ about 83/4 or 9 the entire time. There were also sweepers you wouldn't believe(see #79)...you could run over 100 for hours. Don't ask me where the police were, never saw any in the mountains.
Biggest problem in Cal. is the temperature. In the desert it's 80 -85 degrees and in the mountains 25 -35degrees. Cold riding and hard to get the tires warm at all. Makes for high puckers. Hah!
