But should I pay to basically have scratches painted over... Doesn't seem to need anything to run, its just scratched..

ok, i need some guidance.

as of right this second, it seems HE will be paying for all damages.

the only thing making my bike NOT ridable, appears to be the windshield, but you can ride without it..

@john, hold on to that windshield buddy! and those bags!!

ive been given an option, I can next week either take my bike to a shop, get it looked at, and have the tank repainted, emblems re done, new front brake assembly (its scratched by thats about it , it would seem)

OR

should I take the cash and do the repairs myself, or pay a friend?

any tips here guys, what would be the best, obviously a shop is pricey, but it would be nice.

any low budget shops with cool owners who do cheaper but decent work?

should I take the cash, buy new windshield, and put the rest into bobbin out the bike, which was already part of my winter plan?

thanks duuuuuudes.

my knee is still shit, got a sweet rasberry on my hip, but im back at work, caring for the eldery.

best.job.ever.

So I guess the battery problem is fixed.  You can keep the charger for a week and see how the battery behaves.

I've never been able to shift from 1 to Neutral (I can if I shift really gently, but on normal ride I can't).  Most of the time I downshift from 2 to neutral. All 3 foot-shifted motorcycles behave this way (Kawasaki 550 Ltd, Honda Goldwing, Yamaha Royal Star).

Come to think of it, maybe it's OK because you don't want to shift to neutral when you're accelerating.  You want to shift to neutral when you're decelerating (i.e. from 2 to neutral as you're stopping).  So maybe it's not a big deal.  But I don't know, I'll let the vets chime in (NoGear, John, JukeBoxHero, dsride.....)

lol ive actually accidently shifted from first to N instead of second, and probably sounded like a douche to all the onlookers haha.

well maybe thats a good thing. they said if its totaled, because of the age I wouldnt have to report it to the dmv, and it wouldnt show on the title or history?

so I guess Id buy it back, but it seems like maybe the other guys ins. will cover the damage, which seems minimal.

tbh im just glad the medical is covered, because I hate hospital bills, and already have a few, was in the er not long ago from an asthma attack.

anyways, phil, should I leave it plugged in to the bike, or should I leave the battery on the charger when im not using the bike?

I may be winterizing, so gotta do research for that and find out what that involves.

I get paid in a couple days, and am getting a regular battery tender similar to yours. I guess you guys just plug em up all winter on the low setting to save the battery?

thanks again guys, and yeah, maybe the shifting thing is good, just knocked some sense into her lol.

im just glad the bike is ok... shes got JUST over 8000 miles, less than 100 are from me, closer to 60 or so lol.

original everything, was literally kept in a heated garage and had recent tune up to get her back to normal..

kinda like finding a unicorn in the woods...only better, cause shes 86 or so horsepower on a V4 haha
