Human Beings...

25 September 2016 - 04:52 PM

So this afternoon I went out and bought a little magnetic tank bag. Just a small one. I carry a soft lunch box with me on a daily basis, so I thought this might replace that, as I can use it on weekdays as a lunch box and on the weekends to hold things on my bike.

So I put it on the bike and rode all day with it. All around the place, out on the interstate, everything. It held on. I liked it. It was going to be great. Popped right off the bike. I took it in when I stopped for lunch. We bonded.

I stopped for fuel right around the corner from the house, where I always fill up. As the bag covered my fuel cap, I removed it and set it off to the side and filled up. Well, the bag and I had only been together a few short hours, so when I was done fueling up, I threw a leg over and rode off.

I made it about half a mile to the light at the end of the road and realized what I had done. So I spun around real quick (glad I aced the box) and rode back to the store. This whole exchange was a matter of minutes.

The bag was gone. Nowhere to be seen.

I went to the counter and the girl behind the counter looked at me like I had grown three heads. Nothing she said. No one had brought anything in, and she hadn't see anyone.

Whoever did it had to have been sitting right there and watching. Hell, the probably saw me riding back for it and drove off. The whole thing was less than five minutes.

Just when I am starting to believe that all humans aren't bad.

At least there was nothing more than a shirt I had just bought in it. But it is still the principal of the matter. Plus I really liked the bag. Now I have to go buy another one and hope I don't ride off and leave it.

Interesting Locations

I am newish to the area. I have been in the Louisville area for about five years now, but those five years have been spent at work or home.

I am interested in getting out and riding, possibly meeting new people and seeing some interesting stuff.

The idea of Urban Spelunking or the Suburban or even Rural is something I have always dug, but I don't know the area, and frankly, I am not that social of a cat. So if anyone has any suggestions, I would love to hear them.

Please allow me to introduce myself...

So, it seems a little slow here, which is more my style.

I am east of Louisville, work in the Watterson Park area though.

Bought a bike in July and have been riding ever since.

I am originally from deep in the hills of East Tennessee. Small town in the middle of nowhere that is the tail end of a rather famous set of roads. Grew up on four wheels turning wrenches and breaking things.

If you ask my wife I am going through a midlife crisis. I disagree, I am way to young for that to be happening.

I have a `16 Sportster Iron, and it is the easiest thing I have ever had to customize. It is seriously like Legos. I love it.

Before putting my fists in the wind, I can't really say that I knew what freedom was. Don't believe I could go back now.

I don't like people much, but I'll be damned, riding with some folks, or getting to know some roads in the area from some would be nice. Right now I ride solo.

Anyways, folks call me Murg. I am an old toothless redneck that loves thrash metal, unloved import cars and daily drive an American icon. My family is the most important thing in the world to me, and my black lab thinks the world begins and ends with me. I collect guns, guitars, tattoos and bad decisions.

Anyways, if y'uns will have me, I might hang around from time to time.
