#34812 Labor Day Ride Together

Posted by PhilH on 08 September 2017 - 04:53 AM

Looks like a nice ride.  How many hours were you gone?

We left Lexington at 11 and returned at 5 so total trip is 6 hours. But we stopped for lunch for 2 hours so total riding time is 4 hours.

#34719 JVM Motorsports Yamaha Demo Days

Posted by PhilH on 28 June 2017 - 07:56 AM

JVM Motorsports in Harrodsburg is having a Yamaha Demo Days July 14-15 2017.  The available bikes to be "sampled" are R3, R6, R1S, FZ-07, FZ-09, FZ-10, FJR-1300, V-Star 1300, Bolt-R, SCR-950, and maybe the new Venture.

So if you're in the market for Yamaha, or just want to sample Yamaha products, you may want to come and see what Yamaha has to offer.  I may go down there since I know JVM owner (Mark Morris).  If I go, I hope to see some friends from KY Twisted.

#34708 227 - Rabbit Hash - Sunday

I would like to join for this but we'll see what happens.  With my new job I actually have off weekends now, which is nice for riding.  However, my wife is due with our baby girl anytime in the next week or so, so I may not get to stray very far...

Ouch, I'm sorry for you, your life is over, so is your riding ..... :75:

OK seriously, congratulations  :127: .  I'd love to ride with you again but mother and baby are more important.  Take good care of them.

I sold it :12:

I know I sound like a hypocrite but the more I curse and yell at the Stratoliner, the more I feel attached to it.  So I decided to keep it around for a while.

Yeah it's those little black pieces with white stripes.  It doesn't do anything.  The only reason I got it is because it's half off.  I start thinking like my wife.

You came to the Kickstand at the wrong time, man.  You should come during Polar Bear ride or the BBQ / Poker Run and meet dsride and Josh and occasionally other members of this forum.  Great rides, great friends, OK food (as Josh said on the last Polar Bear, but that's because he likes blazing-hot chili).

#33968 Ride on a BMW

Posted by PhilH on 02 February 2016 - 04:22 PM

That's very nice of them to let you ride that long.

Now I don't have experience in BMW but I had been warned by a guy in my office that BMW motor is only good for 50K miles.  After that everything will fall apart piece by piece and you have to have a deep pocket to keep it running.  Again, I don't have experience in BMW and I don't even know if this info is accurate or not (anybody with experience with BMW is welcome to confirm or rebuke).  I just pass it since you said the bike has 58k miles on it.  Something to be aware of, I guess.

I don't care for bikes with a fairing and that look like transformers or other plastic toys.

Don't you hate them plastics?

I like oldies.  My favorite 70's are Steppenwolf and Lynrd Skynrd    Sorry, can't help it......

My favorite 70's is Suzuki GT380.  It's a 3-cylinder 2 stroke, so although it's 380-cc it has the power of a 500-cc 4 stroke.  My friend had one and it was a blast to ride, especially against punks who think it has no chance against their souped-up 500cc.
